Where can I find information on BuildCraft?
Some documentation system is currently being worked on - there are unofficial wikis but they're often out of date. You can always ask on our forums! There is also a Japanese wiki here which seems to be somewhat up-to-date.
Can I use BuildCraft / BuildCraftCompat in my pack?
Yes - BuildCraft itself is licensed under the MMPLv1 or MPLv2 if you need the specifics, but generally you can!
I'm having an issue with BuildCraft! Where do I report it?
The discord or the sub-reddit are good places to start. If you have a proper bug report, however, I'd like to point you here instead.
I have this amazing feature idea and I really want you to hear it!
The discord or the sub-reddit, share it with us!
What mods do the BuildCraft Builders support?
By default, many simple (primarily worldgen/decorative) blocks are supported out of the box, such as the kind of blocks added by Chisel 2 or Ztones. However, for many other mods, special support is required to allow for rotation and remove the chance of duplication bugs appearing.
These mods support BuildCraft Builders out of the box in 1.7.10:
- BuildCraft
- Applied Energistics 2
- Computronics
On top of that, if you install BuildCraft Compat, the following mods are supported in 1.7.10:
- Big Reactors
- Binnie's Mods (decorative blocks)
- Carpenter's Blocks (most blocks)
- Ender Storage
- Factorization
- Forestry (decorative blocks)
- Forge Multipart
- Immibis' Microblocks
- Iron Chests
- RailCraft (rails, detectors, stairs, slabs, some machines)
- RedLogic
- Remain in Motion (frames only, no motors)
- Thermal Expansion 4 (most blocks)
In 1.12.2 BuildCraft Builders still needs updating :(
What is BuildCraft Compat and what does it support?
BuildCraft Compat is a BuildCraft addon designed to add cross-mod compatibility with other mods.
The list of mods it adds Builder compatibility to is listed above. On top of that, compatibility is added for:
- Crops (Stripes Pipes, Robots)
- AgriCraft
- AppleMilkTea 2
- Pam's HarvestCraft
- Witchery
- Bundled Redstone (connect a bundled wire to a pipe and interact with it with a gate)
- RedLogic
- BluePower
- Automatic insertion
- CoFH API (most pipes - Thermal Dynamics, etc.)
- Ender IO
- Special blocks
- Forestry - Apiarist Pipe
- MineFactoryReloaded - robot dupe fix, gate triggers
- MineTweaker 3
- NotEnoughItems
- WAILA - tooltips
Why can't I power my BuildCraft machines with RF (7.99.x)?
BuildCraft is in the process of moving back to the MJ power system. However, due to BuildCraft being in alpha no other mods support it (or should support it, as its still making breaking changes to the API. It is unlikely that an RF -> MJ conversion might be added in the future, however MJ -> RF (buildcraft -> other mods) is still being evaluated.
When will the next BuildCraft version be released? / When will this be fixed/implemented?
We don't know ourselves unfortunatly. 7.1.x will receive updates when and if we get bug reports that we ourselves can duplicate, and fix. 7.2.x is dead, and is extremly unlikely to receive updates (in part due to the little number of active players and reports). 7.99.x is the branch under active development, and so updates will happen infrequently. Currently the update rate seems to be about 1 every month or two, but that might fluctuate wildy as development progresses. Unfortunatly asking repeatedly is unlikely to make this go any faster.
Where is the 1.10.2 version of Buildcraft?
It does not exist at this time, we skipped this minecraft version.
When will a minecraft 1.10.2 version be available?
Currently there's a slightly out-of-date version for 1.10.2 available in the testing channel in the discord.
How does the new (introduced in 7.99.5) refining system work?
There is a great guide made by LuigiHutch : http://imgur.com/a/AXUOX
Where can I contact the dev team?
On the subreddit, discord or on IRC (irc.esper.net / #buildcraft) is your best bet.
Does the discord #faqs channel auto-update from this page?
I'm not sure, lets wait an hour or so to see.
